Dear members of DNS, Maithon family (Parents/Guardians),

As we bid goodbye to another eventful academic year – full of challenges, celebrations & achievements, I would like to extend my sincerest appreciation and gratitude to each one of you for your support and partnership in our efforts to carry forward our mission of imparting quality education to our children and fulfilling our dream of equipping them with holistic personality.

We are a school with a difference. We value and encourage creativity and innovation, we care for and empathise with slow learners, we strive for excellence, we celebrate diversity and above all we follow a humane, transparent and child-centric approach. The commitment, vision and strength of our De Nobili Community make our school a remarkable place for the children to pursue their education.

THE YEAR GONE BY SOME HIGHLIGHTS:

• A group of students went on an educational tour to Birla Industrial and Technological Museum, Kolkata.
• Our students excelled by winning most of the prizes in the Competitions organised under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme and by Maithon Adarsh Seva Samiti.
• In the Inter Nobilian Elocution & Speech Contest, our students secured the 1st prize in Hindi Extempore, 1st prize in English Extempore and 2nd prize in Story Telling Competition and qualified for the Inter Jesuit Elocution & Speech Contest.
• The school organised a material donation drive during the social action week. All the students contributed generously. Teams of students visited Charity Homes to donate the materials. It was a humbling experience for them.
• The DNS Maithon team won the first prize in the ASISC Regional Quiz competition in the Sub.Jr. Category .
• On National De-worming Day, students of 3 years and above were administered Albendazole tablets. The Lions’ Club, Chirkunda organised an eye check up camp in the school.
• Mr.Dhananjay Dutta, our games teacher , was given a fond farewell .
• Candle Making, Rangoli , Rakhi making, Fancy dress, Solo Singing, Drawing , Quiz, Slogan Writing, Debate ,Mental Agility and Spelling,etc. Contests, Maths. and Science Olympiads, and Tree Plantation drive along with various other activities were organised during the year.
• Graduation night for class 10, Republic Day, Annual Sports Day, Annual Exhibition Sharing Day, Achievers’ Day, Gandhi Jayanti, Christmas, Sharing Day, Independence Day , Nobo Borsho, Rabindra Jayanti , Baishakhi and other important days were celebrated with equal enthusiasm.
• On Children's Day a Fete was organised for the enjoyment of the children. There were food stalls, fun games, rides and many other attractions. Director, DNS , HOP , DVC Maithon & Parents of Students of LKG to Std -5 were present along with all the students.
• Diwali was celebrated in the school premises by appropriately decorating the school with lights and candles. Students of classes 10, 11 and 12 along with the teachers and team of alumni became a part of this celebration in the evening.
• Students in Sub Junior Level secured the 1st position in the Province Level Ignatian Quiz.
• An engaging magic show was organised by the school which was, for the majority, a novel experience.
• Open days were conducted regularly for all the classes to help the parents keep in touch with the Teachers for the overall development of the children.
• The School Team won the 2nd prize in the Group Dance Competition organised by DVC on the occasion of Republic Day.
• The newly constructed Senior Block, a much needed addition to the infrastructure, was inaugurated.
